In the following article, you will meet Paul Páez and get an insight into what a day as a Director of Sales in the Healthcare sector can look like.

What does a typical day for you look like?Paulwithwife+
Since most of my team is two to three hours ahead of me (I’m in California), I start checking my emails around 6:30 a.m.; seeing what’s been scheduled for me and planning my day.
I’m responsible for several enterprise client accounts as well as supporting the healthcare team members; so, the mornings are spent addressing outstanding issues in those regards and attending two to three meetings a day in that capacity.
After noon (12:00 p.m.) is my chance to follow up with my task list, which can include follow-ups with clients, conducting presentations, developing quotes, answering emails, returning calls, and moving opportunities forward.
All of that assumes I am not traveling, but now that Covid is somewhat under control, I assume I’ll be on the road at least a few times a month as well.

What is something that is important for you in the workplace?
Support.
I think it’s important to work in an environment where everyone is engaged, enthusiastic and energized to serve our clients. For example, on our team we make sure everyone has the support they need to be successful, and that makes people more comfortable, confident and focused on the needs of our clients. It also makes work more enjoyable and fulfilling.

How did you first come across Qmatic?
I worked for a competitor heading up their healthcare practice. During that tenure, I not only learned about Qmatic, but I also learned that Qmatic had better products and services. So, when I saw a job opening at Qmatic in Los Angeles, I jumped on it, and fortunately, I was hired.

What do you like most about working for Qmatic?
I love the fact that what we do improves the patient experience.

Is there any specific event while working for Qmatic that you remember and want to share?
Well, not work-related, but when I first moved to California, I had to go to the DMV to transfer my driver’s license from my previous state. The CA DMV was using Qmatic, and for me, it was the first time I ever had used--or even seen--a digital queuing system. My wife and I were pleasantly surprised, saying to each other: “Wow. The California DMV has got it going on.” Ten-plus years later, here I am working for Qmatic, and the CA DMV still uses Qmatic and it still “has it going on.”

Name/describe something that makes you happy.
I’m happiest when I’m at home, hanging out with my wife, Margaret; my two sons, Max and Carlo; and our Dog, Odin…and listening to Squeeze on my Spotify playlist.

What is something you are proud of?
My family.

Fun fact about you?
Don’t know if it was fun, but I hope it was funny. When I was much younger, I used to spend my evenings after work performing comedy and improv at bars and clubs in New York City.

Something you want to add?
Very happy to be back at Qmatic.
