In our new blog series Behind Our Solutions, we will highlight the insights of the people who work closest to our products, namely our software developers, UX designers, and product owners. We will listen to their views on our products, what they have enjoyed working with, and what they think is important. This time, we talk to Robin Williscroft Löfmark, Software Developer, who shares his thoughts on some of the great features of our solutions.
Qmatic Experience Cloud: A Focus on User Interaction
Robin works primarily with Qmatic Experience Cloud. He explains: “My specialty lies in front-end development, which means my contributions are what customers directly interact with, based on the designs our team creates.” Robin reveals that he has a particular passion for CSS and animations, which is beneficial for creating great experiences in the user interface.
A Favorite Feature: Capacity Editor for Virtual Pools
When asked about his favorite feature, Robin says: “One feature that holds a special place in my heart is the capacity editor for virtual pools.” He recalls the challenges he faced during its development: "I remember reading the acceptance criteria and wondering how I was ever going to implement it.” After many long sessions, he successfully brought the feature to life. The moment was particularly rewarding for Robin as it marked his first public demo for the entire R&D department. "As a junior, it was nerve-wracking, but looking back, I’m proud of how much effort I dedicated to it," he shares, and continues: “Since then, I’ve heard that the feature was well received, which is always rewarding to hear.”
Collaboration at Its Best: Service Combinations
Another project that stands out for Robin is the Service Combinations feature as it was a testament to the close collaboration between the frontend, backend, and UX teams. "We went back and forth countless times to iron out the details, and in the end, we delivered a solution we were all proud of," he explains.
The result was a solution that allows customers to book multiple services in one appointment. It means that the customer can access all the services needed in one visit instead of several, and it also improves the operational efficiency for the service provider as everything is automatically booked in the system. Pretty great! See this blog post to learn more: Introducing multiple service bookings.
A Fun Fact: From Skating Rinks to Coding
Back to Robin again. To wrap up, I ask Robin if there is a fun fact about him that most people don’t know. Robin shares: "I used to figure skate when I was a kid!" Quite unexpected and uncommon to my knowledge, especially among software developers. But after thinking about it, the creativity and attention to detail required in figure skating are skills that match a successful front-end developer just as much!
Thank you, Robin, for sharing about yourself and your work.
